The Villages of Creve Coeur and Deer Creek recently received the formal documents confirming the Community Development Assistance Program (CDAP) grants the two Tazewell County communities learned they were awarded a couple of months ago.

Creve Coeur will use its $350,000 grant to replace approximately 3,700 lineal feet (LF) of undersized and deteriorating water mains in the Alta Vista-Seneca-Oak Lawn Terrace-Wagner neighborhood.  Deer Creek, which also received $350,000, will construct a 125,000-gallon water tower to replace its 80-year-old 50,000-gallon tower.  The Creve Coeur Board has pledged $121,290 from a bank loan it will obtain for its share of the project’s cost.  Likewise, Deer Creek will borrow funds to invest in this needed improvement in the amount of $278,400.

The maximum CDAP grant for this type of competitive public infrastructure project is $350,000.  The Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) administers the funds which come from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) on a annual basis as long as Congress appropriates the funds.

The applications for both grants were written by the EDC for Central Illinois.  Both communities have received multiple grants under this program to improve their facilities over the past several years.
